Rookie Springbok utility back Patrick Lambie will face an anxious 24 hours as he awaits a medical report on his injured shoulder.

Lambie, who left the field in the 20th minute of the 18-5 win over the All Blacks in Port Elizabeth at the weekend, will know on Monday if the injury is serious enough to threaten his World Cup prospects.

First-choice fullback Frans Steyn is another player who is in a race against the clock ahead of Tuesday's World Cup squad announcement.

He sustained a hamstring injury against Australia in Durban the previous week.

Bok coach Peter de Villiers offered the usual ""we discuss injuries on Monday through our team doctor", when asked about the seriousness of the injuries.

Other injuries from the weekend include stand-in captain Victor Matfield, who played the last half hour of the match in PE with an unspecified injury, and flank Heinrich Brüssow - who had to leave the field with blood pouring from his face, but returned later to turn in a man-of-the-match performance.

The Boks have already lost a couple of key players ahead of the World Cup - with lock Andries Bekker (back) and flank Juan Smith (Achilles) ruled out.
