André Warner - Captain of Tygerberg

There's nothing quite like going out on a high note and for André Warner that's exactly what he wants to achieve when he leads his Tygerberg High side against Brackenfell High in their FNB Classic Clash on Saturday.

For Warner and the rest of the matrics in his side, it will be their final game of the season and quite an emotional one too.

"After five years playing together, it will be a bit emotional, to reach the end of the road, so to speak," Warner said.

"But we are looking forward to the match. There's a good atmosphere around the team and the school too," he told classiclashes.co.za.

And there are good reasons for the excitement from Tygerberg. The side has had a good season with some really big wins, the most notable being a 74-3 win over Milnerton earlier this season. The second being that Tygerberg smashed Brackenfell 64-6 in the Interschools fixture last year.

The six-foot tall scrumhalf, though, is wary of underestimating his opponent.

"While we are confident of our chances of getting a win in the Interschools, we know that once we get on the field, anything can happen. It's a level playing field," the matric student said.

Warner has had a fairly good year, not only boasting a run out for Western Province at this year's Craven Week but he can also boast to being the captain of his school's Cricket First XI and to being the school's deputy headboy.

"It's all about juggling your time effectively," the matric student said, when asked about how he coped with all his duties.

Once he completes his schooling, Warner will be off to study at Stellenbosch.
