Preview: Die Beeld Final

Published: Thursday, 25. August, 2011 in category Southern Hemisphere

Waterkloof duly won their semifinal and so play surprise finalists Florida in the Final of Die Beeld's Trofee for 2011.

If Florida could beat a full-strength Monument side, they can, if they are up for it, beat this strong Waterkloof side, run close in the semifinal by HTS Middelburg.

Waterkloof will have confidence from their early matches with Florida this season when the Klofies beat the Florries 37-11 and 48-7. In fact Klofies have had much the better season. But there are those disconcerting Monnas results

Results against common opponents

Transvalia: Waterkloof won 74-17, Florida 34-26
Rustenburg: Waterkloof won 63-7, Florida 20-12
Eldoraigne: Waterkloof won 42-25, Florida 25-12
Marais Viljoen: Waterkloof won 72-13, Florida 27-11

Then there are the Monnas results:

Monument: Waterkloof lost 30-18, Florida won 22-20 and 16-13 and lost to them 20-11.

Monnas are the only top side that Florida beat. Affies beat them 54-3 and Paarl Boys' High won 38-12 while Waterkloof had a big wins over Paul Roos (48-10) and Diamantveld (55-15) while losing just 21-16 to Grey College.
