Noord-Kaap - unbeaten champions

Hoërskool Noord-Kaap of Kimberley ended their season on Saturday beating Hoërskool Diamantveld 27-20 in Bloemfontein in the Final of the KOVSIE Central Region League. It was Noord-Kaap's third successive championship victory.

This victory ended an unbeaten season for Noord-Kaap.

When the two teams met in an FNB Classic clash two weeks ago, Northerns won 44-7. It was a different matter altogether this time and Diamantveld actually led 13-3 at one stage and 13-10 at half-time. Noord-Kaap had to dig deep for this one while Diamantveld played themselves out of their boots. They threw everything at Noord-Kaap, but the Northerns boys did not panic once and showed their class by scoring four very good tries. It was a try by the captain Jaco Buys in the second half that gave Noord-Kaap the lead, which they maintained.

A final will never produce rugby for the purists and this one was no exception. Fortunately the score board does not have place for comments and judging from the score, Northerns ended a dream season on a high note.
