Leopards change things up for WP

Published: Tuesday, 6. September, 2011 in category Southern Hemisphere

The Leopards have overhauled their team ahead of the clash with Western Province at Newlands in Cape Town this weekend with flyhalf Clayton Du Randt coming in to captain the side.

Du Randt started on the replacements bench in the Leopards loss to the Cheetahs in Potchefstroom last week but he comes into the starting line-up this week where he replaces young pivot Wesley Dunlop.

Captain Morne Hanekom has also been dropped to the bench so Du Randt will lead the side while No.8 Spanner Pretorius takes his place at the back of the scrum.

Charl Weideman makes a return from injury and he replaces outside centre Jovan Bowles who shifts out to the right wing in place of Hoffman Maritz. Weideman will form an all-new centre partnership with Hennie Skorbinski as last week's inside centre Joubert Engelbrecht has also been moved to the bench.

In the forward pack Robert Kruger replaces Siya Mdaka on the side of the scrum while Roan van Heerden takes the place of Brendan van Heerden at lock.

There are two changes in the front row with hooker Gavin Williamson coming in to replace Marius Fourie and Snoepie Coetzee starting at loosehead prop in place of BG Uys who drops to the bench.

Leopards: 15 George Tossel, 14 Jovan Bowles, 13 Charl Weideman, 12 Hennie Skorbinski, 11 Vainon Willis, 10 Clayton Du Randt (captain), 9 Moolman Westley, 8 Spanner Pretorius, 7 MB Lusaseni, 6 Robert Kruger, 5 Brad Mockford, 4 Roan Van Heerden, 3 Stephan Bezuidenhout, 2 Gavin Williamson , 1 Snoepie Coetzee.
