Bulls sign top schoolboys

Highly rated SA Schools and Grey Bloemfontein centre Jan Serfontein has signed a contract with the Blue Bulls for the 2012 season.

Serfontein has been tipped by many pundits for big things and is a major acquisition for the Bulls, while the Free State Cheetahs will rue not having the finances to keep the latest of schoolboy star in Bloemfontein.

There are a further eight SA Schools players on the Bulls' books as Dries Swanepoel, Jacques du Plessis, Andrew Beerwinkel, Neethling Fouché, Irne Herbst, Philip du Preez, Leneve Damens and Ruwellyn Isbell have all signed contracts with the Pretoria side.

The union's youth development policy also delivered and a whole bunch of players who represented the Blue Bulls and Limpopo Blue Bulls , and have been offered contracts.

Head of rugby at the Bulls, Heyneke Meyer, expressed his satisfaction with the group.

"They have been identified from the best schoolboys out there and should address all the needs we identified for the future," Meyer said.

"I actually think this will be the best group we have ever assembled at this level and we are keen to not only make them part of the Blue Bulls family, but to walk a long and successful road to the future with them."
