Joubert Engelbrecht will captain the Leopards against the tournament leaders, the Lions, in their Currie Cup encounter in Potchefstroom on Friday.

Engelbrecht takes over the team's captaincy from Morné Hanekom, who fracture his hand in the loss to Western Province last week.

Leopards coach Leon Boshoff made a number of changes to the tea, bringing back several players who were "rested" for the encounter with Province last week.

Hoffmann Maritz, who was a late inclusion on the wing in place of Jovan Bowes, moves to fullback - with George Tossel that drops down to the bench.

Charl Weideman, another player who was left out of the team last week in a number of late changes, starts on the wing this week.

Roan van Heerden has been named at lock ahead of the injured Brad Mockford (knee).
