A New Zealand nightclub bouncer defended himself Thursday against accusations he was being self-righteous and arrogant in allegedly releasing security camera footage of England centre Mike Tindall cosying up to a woman on a boozy night out.
Jonathan Dixon, 40, who is charged with accessing a computer system for dishonest purposes, appeared on a New Zealand current affairs television programme to put his side of the story.
Dixon allegedly posted security footage on the Internet purportedly featuring Tindall, who is married to Queen Elizabeth II's granddaughter, Zara Phillips.
The footage, which has since been removed from the YouTube website, supposedly shows Tindall at a Queenstown bar with his arms around a mystery blonde, who at one point kisses him on the top of head.
"I have never been [unfaithful], I'm not without sin, man, but I am about that one, because that's a big one, man," Dixon told the interviewer about the nightclub incident.
"I'm self-righteous, I'm arrogant? I'm arrogant because I love this country, this country is the best in the world.
"We've got this guy, he's a visitor to our country, he's the English rugby captain, whose married to a royal, and he comes into this country and he knows full well that we know that he is married and he does this, he does this....
"It's arrogance, mate, it's not a right, it's privilege, you're a guest in our country.
"Self-righteous? because I tell some guy off, why, why, because I'm not afraid to stand up and say 'hey man, that's wrong'."
The allegations have continued to prove an unwelcome distraction for the England team and 2003 World Cup-winner Tindall, who married Phillips on July 30.
Dixon will appear again in Queenstown District Court on October 17.
The footage in question was taken just a day after England, with Tindall deputising as captain for the injured Lewis Moody, beat Argentina in their opening pool match of the World Cup.
Moody has since returned to full fitness but Tindall has been ruled out of this Saturday's quarterfinal against France with a leg injury.
