The Rebels have bolstered their 2014 Super Rugby squad with the signing of Leinster's Melbourne-born hooker Tom Sexton.
Sexton has played the majority of his rugby in Ireland, with Leinster, where he featured through the province's successes in the 2012-13 season.
The former Irish Schoolboy captain was looking forward to returning home to Melbourne and the challenge of Super Rugby.
"I am really looking forward to it, I am obviously a little bit nervous about moving to the other side of the world again, but it is definitely very exciting," Sexton said.
"I was definitely flattered to have a team from Super Rugby interested in me but I was also mindful of how much credit I owe to Leinster and Irish rugby for where I am today, it was a tough decision to leave, but I am thrilled to return home to Melbourne and play for the Rebels.
"Having been born in Melbourne, I then left Australia at four years of age. I have been fortunate to receive a great Irish education. My rugby career also benefited greatly from exposure at club, school, academy and professional level in Ireland. But in many ways I am returning home.
"I have kept a close eye on Super Rugby, particularly in Melbourne with the Rebels because it was where I was born. With the likes of Wallabies James O'Connor, Kurtley Beale and Nick Phipps now playing for the Rebels, I can't wait to be part of it!"
When asked of his fondest memories of Melbourne, his answers were consistent with what makes this city one of the most liveable in the world.
"I remember the trams, the great people, the summers and cricket at the MCG! I can't wait to get back and visit the Vic market on a Sunday and head down the coast to Portsea to visit friends and relatives."
Sexton will arrive at the Rebels at the completion of the 2013 European season.
