The defending champions have named Ashley Johnson, Coenie Oosthuizen, Dean Greyling, Werner Kruger, Elton Jantjies and Duane Vermuelen in the provisional squad ahead of the tournament.
Coach Peter de Villiers has also included four overseas-based players in the form of Racing Metro centre Frans Steyn and the Ulster trio of BJ Botha, Ruan Pienaar and Johan Muller.
The squad also includes 21 members of the squad that won the Webb Ellis Trophy in South Africa - and de Villiers is confident of his side's chances.
"I'm very happy with the squad," said de Villiers. "We have got a good blend of youth and experience as well as including some uncapped players who have forced their way into contention for selection with their performances in Super Rugby.
"Our planning is at an advanced stage for the international season and the vast majority of these players have attended one or both of our planning camps.
"Our Castle Tri-Nations squad will be drawn from this group once we have been able to sort out those players who are carrying injuries at the end of the Vodacom Super Rugby competition."
Other stand-out performers from the ongoing Super Rugby campaign who are rewarded for their excellent form are the Sharks duo of fly-half Patrick Lambie and winger Lwazi Mvovo, who have helped the Natal side reach the play-offs where they travel to face the Crusaders this weekend.
The two notable absentees from the panel are Stormers prop CJ van der Linde and Bulls flanker Dewald Potgieter, both of whom were regulars in the matchday squad during last year's Tri Nations series.
Veteran prop Van der Linde, who has 69 caps to his name, also played in all four Tests on the Springboks grand slam tour of Britain and Ireland at the tail end of 2010.
In total the party includes 21 players who featured in the successful World Cup campaign in France four years ago, including captain John Smit and talismanic lock Victor Matfield.
De Villiers will select his Tri Nations squad from the group announced today, but has not ruled out adding players from outside the current party when he has to name his final 30 for the global showpiece in New Zealand on August 23.
