Cohen: One of many to leave Sale

The list includes 2003 England World Cup winner Ben Cohen, number eight Sisa Koyamaibole, prop Jack Forster and back-row forward Kristian Ormsby.

Other departures, including fly-half Charlie Hodgson's move to Saracens, Chris Bell joining Wasps and Carl Fearns joining Bath, had previously been announced by their new clubs.

Off-the-field exits, meanwhile, include backs coach Byron Hayward and conditioner Peter Finch.

Sale, who finished third-bottom in the Premiership, have already made 12 new signings for next term, including Munster pair Tony Buckley and Sam Tuitupou.

"Such a wholesale change of players and coaching staff is necessary considering the performances of the club in the last two seasons," said Steve Diamond, Sale's executive director of sport.

"With a couple of exceptions, the club declined to make offers to the departing players and staff."

Sale chief executive Mick Hogan added: "There are still a number of signings and re-signings to be announced in the next fortnight.

"By the start of June, all players and coaches will be in place to start pre-season conditioning."
