Promising young Gloucester centre Henry Trinder has signed a two-year contract extension that will keep the 22-year-old midfield ace at the club until 2013.
Trinder made his Gloucester senior debut as a replacement in the 2007/08 season but 2010/11 was very much his breakthrough campaign at the club when he made 15 starts in all competitions, scoring 13 tries in the process.
A silky runner with ball in hand and possessing a cultured left boot, his talents haven't gone unnoticed at representative level.
A former England Under-20 international, he represented England in the non cap international against the Barbarians in May and scored a fine early try. He then went on to play a pivotal role for the England Saxons in their successful defence of the Churchill Cup in June.
His talent, development and potential are the reasons that Gloucester have moved quickly to secure his services, the latest in a number of recent new contract announcements.
Understandably, Trinder is delighted to sort out his immediate future:
He commented: "I'm very pleased to get it out of the way. It now gives me an opportunity to concentrate on the rest of this season and the two seasons to come after that.
"I'm really happy to stay at Gloucester, I'm enjoying my rugby here. The coaches are great, the other players are great and we've got a really good atmosphere in the squad. There was no decision to make really," he explained.
Trinder was also quick to pay tribute to the role paid by head coach Bryan Redpath in his development.
"Brush wants me to push on. He's always been very supportive and backed me as a player and that's given me great confidence to go out and play my game within the team structure.
"I like working with him, and the other coaches and the new contract means I can now focus on fulfilling my potential," he said.
