Premiership leaders Harlequins have revealed that they have signed Aston Croall until the end of the season.

Signed on an injury dispensation, player and fan favourite, Croall returns to the Harlequins squad this coming Monday on a contract which will see him with the London side until the end of the 2011/12 season.

With long term injuries to Darryl Marfo and Matt Cairns, Aston, who can cover at both hooker and prop, will be a valuable asset to the Quins squad this season, bringing with him experience both in the Premiership and in Europe.

Signed in 2010 to the Sharks, after having had four years with Quins, Croall has previously represented England at both Under-19 and Under-21 level.

"I have had a great year and a half at Sale, and would like to thank the fans, players and coaches for the way in which they have welcomed me into the squad, but I am excited to be returning to my old club," Croall said.

"I am looking forward to being back with the guys and getting stuck into training. Hopefully, I can help towards continuing the great start which Quins have made this season."

Director of Rugby, Conor O'Shea, said: "I am delighted to be welcoming back a player whom we never wanted to see go in the first place but, unfortunately, due to the salary cap, we were unable to keep.

"He is an experienced performer and I know the players are excited to have him back in the squad.

"I would really like to thank Steve Diamond and everyone else at Sale for the manner in which they have allowed us to do this deal."
