Independent judicial officer Roger Morris determined that the tackle on November 18 was at the mid-range entry point of six weeks, but initially added two weeks to the ban as "a deterrent against this pattern of offending" within the game.
However, after taking into account the player's guilty plea and clear record, the ban was reduced to four weeks from the date of the match and Shingler will be free to play on Monday, December 19.
Both the player and ERC have the right to appeal the decision.
