Saints embroiled in email scandal

Premiership side Northampton Saints have had to deal with an email scam which has been taking advantage of aspiring players by offering them fake contracts.

The emails were sent by someone claiming to represent the club and targeted hopeful players from around the world who are looking for a contract with a professional team.

A statement on the club's website explained that the scam promises a player a professional contract at Franklin's Gardens in exchange for a sum of money and is targeted at players from outside the EU.

The club's management is disgusted that the dreams and aspirations of players are being manipulated in this manner, and has advised that any player that is approached in this manner - specifically from Yahoo and Gmail email addresses that contain NorthamptonSaints or any derivative thereof - are to disregard such correspondence.
