Young: 'Good teams go down'

Last weekend's miserable 6-0 defeat against Worcester was a fifth loss in a row for Wasps - their worst sequence of results since the 2001-02 season - and saw them drop to 11th in the table, although they are 10 points clear of bottom side Newcastle.

And things could get worse before they get better for Young and company. Their final fixture before the upcoming four-week break from league action is a formidable one as they face in-form Leicester at their Welford Road fortress on Saturday.

But while Young believes his squad have what it takes to turn things around, starting against a Tigers side who have won four on the bounce, he has told them they will need to battle to make sure of their top-flight status.

"We are in a dogfight for sure but there is a long way to go in the season," Young said.

"I don't buy the argument that any one team is too good to go down - good teams go down and we're not naive enough to think that that couldn't be us.

"It's a tough time but we are all in it together and there is a lot of work to do both on and off the pitch and there is a long way to go. We've got some really talented guys to come back in over the coming weeks and that will be a great boost.

"Leicester away this weekend is a huge ask, but if ever the guys wanted to answer a few questions about themselves there couldn't be a better place to do it.

"After this weekend we get a four-week Aviva Premiership break which is coming at a good time."
