Cipriani close to Sale switch

Sale Sharks are set to confirm they have agreed a deal to bring the enigmatic Danny Cipriani back to England.

Cipriani: Looks set to join Sale in the summer

Cipriani is about to kick-off his second season in Super Rugby at the Melbourne Rebels, with the 24-year-old having headed Down Under from Wasps.

There has been constant speculation over Cipriani ever since, though - particularly following a series of off-field misdemeanours during his time at the Rebels.

And with his contract in Melbourne up at the end of the current campaign, Sale appear to have won the race to sign the fly-half.

London Irish had also been interested but Cipriani looks set to accept a three-year deal offered by the Sharks.

Cipriani is hoping that a return to the Aviva Premiership will allow him to kick-start his international career, which has stalled since winning his last cap in 2008.
