Shontayne Hape and David Marty both pleaded guilty to foul play and received four week bans for dangerous tackles they made in their respective Round One European Cup matches last week.

Marty was cited for an alleged dangerous tackle on the Exeter Chiefs wing Gonzalo Camacho during the second half of the game at Stade Aimé Giral on Friday, November 11.

The independent judicial officer, Antony Davies (England), upheld the citing complaint and having considered all the evidence available, determined that the act was in the mid range of the level of seriousness for an offence of this type, with an entry point of six weeks.

After considering any aggravating and mitigating factors including the player's guilty plea and demonstration of remorse, the Davies reduced the period of suspension by two weeks and suspended the player for a period of four weeks.

Marty will be available to play on Thursday, December 15.

Hape was cited for his tackle on Edinburgh flank David Denton in their clash at Madejski Stadium on Saturday, November 12.

The London Irish centre's hearing was very similar to Marty's with Hape pleading guilty and receiving a four week ban.

The independent judicial officer, Robert Williams (Wales), upheld the citing complaint and having considered all the evidence available, determined that the act was in the mid-range of the level of seriousness for an offence of this type, with an entry point of six weeks.

When considering aggravating factors, Williams added one week. Having then taken into account mitigating factors, including the player's guilty plea, clean record and clear remorse, the Judicial Officer reduced the period of suspension by the maximum amount of 50 percent.  As suspensions are rounded up to whole weeks, the player was suspended for a period of four weeks.

Hape will therefore also be available to play on Thursday, December 15.
