Ulster have been boosted ahead of their Heineken Cup clash with Aironi by the arrival of South African fullback Stefan Terblanche.

Terblanche, who has signed a short-term deal as cover for the injured Jared Payne, has arrived in Belfast and trained with the squad on Monday.

He is expected to be in contention for his side's Pool 4 clash against Italian outfit Aironi at Ravenhill this weekend.

Terblanche has four years experience in the Heineken Cup during his time Ospreys where he made 17 European appearances.

Ulster kicked off their 2011/12 campaign with victory over Clermont Avergne in Round 1 but lost to Leicester Tigers at Welford Road the following weekend. They now face back-to-back games against the Aironi, the first taking place at Rvanehill on Friday evening.
