Lamont raring to go for Warriors

Scotland international and recent Glasgow Warriors signing Rory Lamont has begun training with his new side and is available for selection for their European Cup clash with Montpellier this weekend.

The hrad-running outside back has been registered as an "additional player" in the Warriors European Cup squad, replacing Dave McCall, who is currently on loan at Rotherham Titans.

Lamont has gained valuable experience playing for Toulon in the French Top 14 and he is keen to make that count when he runs out for Glasgow - the team he played for before moving abroad to play for the Sale Sharks and Toulon.

He said: "It's great to be back at Glasgow. I've really enjoyed my first couple of days, catching up with the boys in the squad I already know and familiarising myself with the new faces.

The thrill of playing in Europe's premier club competition has got the Warriors excited and Lamont expects his side to show plenty of passion when they run out in front of their home crowd on Sunday.

"Sunday's game is massive for the whole club, and I can sense a real excitement in the group about the challenge that lies ahead.

"I know from my first spell with the Warriors that the Glasgow fans can make a massive impact on matches like this one with the passion that they bring, and it would be great to see another big crowd behind us this weekend," he said.
