Ryan Wilson, another of Glasgow Warriors' impressive young talents, has added to the momentum building at the Scotstoun club by signing a two-year contract extension.
The No.8 who played a starring role in Friday's win over then Pro12 leaders Ospreys, has joined five of his Glasgow teammates in putting pen to paper at an early stage of the season, providing more welcome news ahead of the trip to face Aironi in Italy on Saturday.
Chris Fusaro, Ryan Grant, Rob Harley, Ruaridh Jackson and Duncan Weir have all recently signed extensions, and on Tuesday it was Wilson's turn to outline his reasons for pledging his future to the club midway through his second campaign as a Warrior.
The 22-year-old said: "I love being part of Glasgow Warriors and living in this brilliant city. There's a very positive feeling around the place at the moment, and I was anxious to be a part of what has the potential to be a great few years in the club's history.
"It's fantastic that the club are coming to players and looking to get them signed up quickly, and all the boys have been delighted to hear some very positive talk with regards to the role of the professional teams going forward.
"With the Scotstoun move on the way, it's clear there's a real commitment to making sure Glasgow Warriors continue to grow, and I'm really happy that Sean Lineen wants me to play a role in that development," he added.
Wilson arrived in Glasgow last year, having previously been attached to London Wasps and London Irish. Already selected by Scotland at Under-19 and U20 level, the loose forward broke into the Scotland A set-up last autumn, and helped the team achieve a 100 percent season win record.
At club level, Wilson produced a man of the match performance on his first Heineken Cup start, the win over Wasps at Firhill in January, one of a number of combative displays that helped make clear his explosive threat from the base of the scrum.
The No.8 has featured in every Warriors game so far this season, making a valuable contribution to the memorable away victories over Leinster and Cardiff Blues and the home successes against Dragons and Ospreys.
Head coach Lineen confirmed: "Ryan has proved to be an excellent addition to the squad, and I'm delighted to have him signed up until at least the end of May 2014. He's a powerful player in our back row and a good, vocal presence about the park.
"He knows he's still got things to develop in his game, but he shows a great willingness to learn and there's no doubting his desire to become the very best player he can be.
"We've got strong competition among the loose forwards now, and, as a coach, that's exactly what you want. It's terrific that young players see a real worthwhile project to buy into at Glasgow Warriors, and there's no doubt the club is heading in the right direction," added the Warriors boss.
