Denton (l) & Jones (r): Will look to impress against England

Edinburgh No.8 Denton and his club-mate Jones, a 23-year-old winger, have both been named in the starting XV for the first time for the RBS Six Nations opener.

And Denton, who has played a key role in seeing Edinburgh reach the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup, is determined to justify head coach Andy Robinson's selection.

Denton, who has made one previous appearance for Scotland off the bench, said: "A lot of the boys have said in the press before that the time has come to stop talking about it and to start doing it.

"We've been playing well, training's been going really well and things are looking sharp. It's a great opportunity for us to stake our claim in the competition.

"My job in the team is to get my hands on the ball and get us on the front foot.

"What I've got to do is get my hands on the ball early, get myself into the game and help the boys get a bit of momentum going forward."

Uncapped Jones has been rewarded for his clinical finishing for Edinburgh this season.

He said: "The three tries in the Heineken Cup have been a personal highlight for me and hopefully I can take that into my Scotland form.

"It's definitely going to be the biggest match of my career and it's a dream come true to be involved.

"I'm expecting a physical, quick game, a step above what I've been playing. Hopefully I can cope with that."
