Speedy Bok in car crash

Stormers wing Gio Aplon was involved in a car accident in Cape Town on Wednesday morning but was not seriously injured and escaped with minor bruising to his forearm.

Fellow Springbok wing Bryan Habana was travelling in a seperate vehicle and arrived on the scene shortly afterwards to assist, contrary to reports that he was travelling in Aplon's car and was involved in the accident itself.

Aplon has since been examined by the Western Province team doctor, who confirmed the minor bruising to his forearm, but it is not yet clear whether the elusive outside back will still take the field in the Stormers' Super Rugby warm-up fixture against the Lions at Newlands on Friday.

Habana revealed the news on Twitter, explaining that there are no serious injury concerns.

"Hey tweeps.. Thanx for all the concerns.. Gio was involved in an accident this morning but luckily there were no serious injuries," the tweet read.
