Cheetahs win Newlands arm-wrestle

Published: Saturday, 4. February, 2012 in category Super Rugby

The Cheetahs struck a crucial pre-season blow when they edged the Stormers 22-14 in their Super Rugby warm-up match at Newlands on Saturday.

In what was a stop-start encounter the teams score one try each - both coming after the break, with the Cheetahs having held a 9-6 lead at half-time.

Neither side managed to put too many phases together in a game that produced a lot of kicking.

The Cheetahs played a territorial game and the Stormers struggled to find a way through their defensive lines.
