Habana hits the midfield for Stormers

Springbok wing Bryan Habana will play at outside centre for the Stormers in their final Super Rugby pre-season clash against the Kings at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium this weekend.

Habana will link up with Jean de Villiers as he takes the place of Juan de Jongh who took a knock to the jaw in the warm-up match against the Lions and is still recovering, but coach Allister Coetzee is apparently looking at using Habana in the position more frequently in the future.

The match will see the return of big forwards Duane Vermeulen and Andries Bekker who have both been out of action for some time with ankle injuries.

Vermeulen takes his place at blindside flank, where he is expected to feature for the Stormers this season, with Siya Kolisi moving across to the other side of the scrum to replace his skipper Schalk Burger who is being rested.

Gary van Aswegen gets another opportunity at flyhalf, while he is backed up by newcomer Burton Francis who has pushed Demetri Cartakilis out of the Stormers squad.

First-choice scrumhalf Dewaldt Duvenage has still not recovered from his injury, so that hands another opportunity to former SA Under-20 halfback Louis Schreuder, with Nic Groom providing back-up on the bench.
