Kings centre in hijacking drama

The Kings have had to call on Border midfielder Dwayne Jenner for their friendly against the Sharks on Friday after outside centre Jaco Bekker was stabbed in the back by hijackers earlier in the week.

With Siyanda Grey still sidelined with a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his knee that is expected to keep him out of action until April and Bekker recovering from the violent crime he experienced in Port Elizabeth, Jenner will square up to Springbok JP Pietersen who will line up at outside centre for the Sharks.

This tragic incident is the latest in a long line of midfield injury concerns for the Kings with George Whitehead also out thanks to a bang on the head he suffered in a car accident.

Jenner, who played for the Sharks XV two years ago and earned five caps for Border last year, will parter Wayne Stevens in the midfield when they face the Sharks at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium this weekend.

Shane Gates is still keeping Earl Rose out of the starting XV and takes his place at flyhalf where he will team up with experienced scrumhalf Falie Oelschig.

Skipper Luke Watson is still unavailable for selection thanks to the back injury he sustained against the Bulls and that kept him out of last week's clash with the Stormers, so veteran lock Darron Nel will captain the side in his absence.
