The Bulls may have lost Springbok Dewald Potgieter to a freak accident, but they will regain the services of namesake, Jacques Potgieter, this week.

Jacques Potgieter was declared fit on Monday, after suffering from a back spasm, and will be considered for the Bulls' Super Rugby opener against the Sharks at Loftus Versfeld on Friday.

He took part in Monday's training session and showed no discomfort, something that will please Bulls coach Frans Ludeke - as both Jean Cook and Dewald Potgieter suffered injuries at the weekend and Arno Botha was ruled out for two weeks.

According to Bulls team doctor Org Strauss, Botha has problems with a disk in his back, but should be fit to play ‘in two to three weeks.

"Jean Cook suffered a foot injury playing for the Blue Bulls at the weekend and will be out of action for a week or two," Strauss said.

"Dewald Potgieter should be back within eight weeks," the team doctor added.
