The Pumas drew with South Africa in their first home of the tournament and they caused Australia an almighty scare on the Gold Coast before being edged out 23-19.
On Saturday night, world champions New Zealand head to La Plata and Hernandez, the Racing Metro superstar, is not content with Argentina being nearly-men.
"We have been very happy with what the team is doing, and it is good to see that we are at the same level as the top teams in the world because there were people who did not trust we would be," Hernandez said.
"It also does not make me happy or draw with South Africa narrowly losing to Australia. We aim to win and that is our motivation for our last two games, they are a chance to show we can win."
Argentina have traditionally made life very difficult for New Zealand. In their two matches on Argentinian soil in the professional era, the All Blacks won 24-20 in 2001 and 25-19 in 2006.
Last year the Pumas competed well for an hour before New Zealand took hold of the World Cup quarter-final and the pattern was repeated in Wellington earlier this month.
Against Australia, the Pumas led 19-6 after 56 minutes but could not produce a complete 80-minute performance and that is what coach Santiago Phelan has demanded.
"It's true that in our last games we weren't efficient in the final minutes," Phelan said.
"We must learn to play at this level, with this intensity and maintain our precision during the whole match.
"We've talked about this with the players and one of our objectives will be to lift towards the end and play above ourselves. We know those are critical moments in the match and we've got to improve and we're aware we must do that to succeed."
Argentina start with an unchanged from their game against Australia while New Zealand welcome back Dan Carter at fly-half, pending a late fitness test on a calf injury.
"It's been pretty frustrating sitting out the last few weeks. I'm really happy with the way I've got back, the calf's feeling good," said Carter, who is to win his 90th cap.
All Blacks Richie McCaw is carrying a leg injury but he was named to start, with Chiefs flanker Sam Cane providing cover off the bench.
"We have huge respect for the Pumas who have shown in the tournament just how good they are, and we are expecting even more from this weekend as they are playing at home in front of their passionate fans," said All Blacks coach Steve Hansen.
