Wales ended the ‘second golden age’ of Welsh rugby with their fourth consecutive Triple Crown when they defeated England 27-3 on this day in rugby history in 1979. They also took the Five Nations title although with one loss to France that year.
Wales was the dominant team for the entire decade and considered by many one of the best teams of all-time. The lost only five times in Five Nations action and had a list of great players such as Gareth Edwards, J.P.R. Williams, Gerald Davies, Barry John, and Mervyn Davies.

J.J Williams, the Welsh Whippet, earned his final cap for Wales in the match and went off in style scoring one of the Wales tries on the day.
