Rugby Shorts

Murrayfield is the home of the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) and it was on this day in rugby history in 1925 that the stadium was opened. The previous home of Scotland rugby was Inverleith.

And Scotland made the first match a memorable one as they defeated England 14-11 to take the Calcutta Cup and complete their Grand Slam run.

Murrayfield has gone on to become one of the top rugby grounds in Europe. The all-seater holds 67,000+ fans and is the largest in Scotland. In addition to SRU matches it hosts the Edinburgh Sevens, Magners League and Heineken Cup final in 2005 as well as select matches at the 2007 Rugby World Cup.
