Cardiff Blues boss Dai Young says his team are going to need a little bit of luck if they are going to make it out of their difficult Heineken Cup group next season.
The Blues, semifinals last season, have been drawn alongside Toulouse, Sale Sharks and Harlequins in the pool stage of the Heineken Cup and will have an uphill battle on their hands trying to repeat last years success.
Rather than being negative – Young has chosen to take a very philosophical approach regarding the tough task which lies ahead of the Blues.
"Every year in the Heineken Cup you need luck to progress," he said to the South Wales Echo.
"That's the type of competition it is.
"You need luck with the draw and then you need luck in having your key players fit when the big games come around.
"And you also have to have some momentum from positive results in the lead up to the Heineken games. I think that is absolutely paramount.
"I won't say we will win the group because that would be ridiculous, every side will think that.
"But we have shown we can beat the big teams and will not fear anyone."
He continued: "We know that Toulouse will be very difficult to beat at home and away,
"But Sale and Quins are tough prospects as well. I stress again, it’s about building momentum and going on a run of wins."
