Chiefs edge ill-discipline Sharks
2010-02-13 20:34:11

The Chiefs made the Sharks pay a dear price for their lack of discipline, when the Kiwi outfit edged them 19-18 in a soaking wet Durban on Saturday.

The Sharks, and their vocal fans, certainly showed their disapproval with numerous of the rulings of New Zealand referee Keith Brown in this Super 14 Round One match.

But nomatter how many mistakes he made. or didn't make, the Sharks gifted the 2009 finalists the opportunity to clinch victory by not complying with the match officials wishes and in the process having two players yellow carded.

They finished the game with 14 men after hooker Bismarck du Plessis was carded for a late, shoulder charge, while captain John Smit spent time in the bin for repeated offences.

The Chiefs scored 10 points in the period that Du Plessis sat on the sideline.
